My name is Sharlene Gilbert.  I am thrilled, excited and eager to jump into my new position as the Director of the Re-Entry Program.  Mike definitely has big shoes to fill, but I will do my best to maintain his standards and continue to have a successful running program.  I am going to take this time to tell you a little about myself.  I am a Christian woman, a wife and a mother of two daughters, oh let me not forget the most recent joy her name is Bella she is "Mommy's best friend":).  I attend Middle Smithfield Presbyterian church where I serve on the board of Deacons, Missions and Administration.  

Having worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Correctional Officer and a Supervisor for well over twelve years,  I can bring to this position a great deal of experience dealing with inmates.  I understand the challenges they face on a day to day basis.  My experience working in the private sector as a Human Resources Generalist, I also know the hardships an Ex-offender will face coming back into society.  This program is a vital part of our community.  When the men and women get out of jail they need assistance, support and a solid foundation to rebuild their lives.  In most cases their friends and family have deserted them.  Now they are back in society where they are labeled, cannot find jobs and really in a bad situation.  It is our obligation to help them.  "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God" (Hebrews 13:16).  Ultimately we want them to be productive members of society.  My number one goal is to keep our participants out of prison and to find them jobs.  So they too, can in turn help others.  My most fulfilling moments are when I can help others.  

 I am grateful for all of you that continue to support this program financially.  Without your prayers and donations this program will not be in existence.  Our Community needs us.  Thank you in advance for your continued support of the Re-Entry Program.
