Over the past six years we have interviewed 471 people and chose to sponsor 218. Unfortunately, of those 218, a total of 20 have returned back to jail; However, this remains a remarkable recidivism rate of 9.2%.
We have also discussed mentoring duties with 270 people and have trained 130. Those that we sponsor and those that we train are having life-changing experiences, as expressed below.
Inmate Testimonials:
Dawn is one of our "graduates" and the mother of two. She says, "I tell everyone that I have angels watching over me."
Bob, another of our "graduates" and a father of three states: "My relationship with God really grew when I no longer just wanted favors, but wanted to build a relationship. This Program helped me when I needed it, and shows me how to continue my relationship with God on a daily basis."
James, a father of three says, "Before I accepted Christ as my Savior, my life was complete chaos. The Christian brothers and sisters in this Program keep me focused and on track. If I had one piece of advice to give an ex-offender it would be to ask Jesus to be in your life, join this Program and let Jesus expand your faith and trust. It isn't always easy, but your never alone."
Joe, a father, and experiencing difficult financial times, says, "The only word I can think of is great, just GREAT! It's just great having people care about me. I like spending time with them."
Mentor Testimonials:
The Mentors are also excited.
Peter Cooney of St. Luke's in Stroudsburg, PA says, "It has been a very spiritually uplifting experience watching formerly incarcerated men and women turn their lives over to the Lord."
Kris Leshanski from Our Lady Queen of Peace in Gilbert, PA says, "I find it very fulfilling that I can help someone achieve reconciliation."
Charlie Walker of Pocono Christian Center in Snydersville, PA offers a similar sentiment saying, "Christ says we should help others. I cannot help others without looking to Christ to help me."
We need money to continue to expand. A donation of even $10 can provide help to these people, and others being released from prison every day. When they turn their lives over to Jesus and address their addiction issues, we all profit.
